Mt. Taylor Snow Conditions

Mt. Taylor Snow Conditions

12/12/2020

As of Saturday December 12, 2020, the snow conditions on Mt. Taylor are as follows:

Road, 547 is clear all the way to the end of the blacktop. Once you cross over packed snow covers the road. On our trip we took the turn off La Mosca on FS 453 and headed up to the ski trails near the shelter. The road had been driven on and was passable in 4wd.

Trail, we snowshoed on the trails around the 10, 200’ of elevation. We found 6-8” of snow that was on top of a 2” base. The “newer” snow was powdery and made for easy walking. Wind exposed ridges and has some blowing and drifting but in the trees it was wonderful.

As winter continues to move along, I hope to see more snow on the top of Mt. Taylor. I have yet to find any snow reports for the area so if you have some information please pass it along.

Starting January 1, 2021 we will be starting our annual Snowshoe Tours, book your spot today! Snowshoe rentals are available every day.
