2019 Spring Update from HQ

Here we are, it’s almost the end of February and we have fair amount of snow in the mountains, which should yield a good spring run-off for paddle boarding season. At the MST Adventures HQ we have been enjoying the winter as much as possible. We have enjoyed helping you experience New Mexico’s snow covered landscape with our rental snowshoes.

If you’ve never celebrated the winter by trekking around the mountains in the snow you really should. The snow adds a subtle change to the landscape that is not to be overlooked.

Rentals:

As I write this it is still very much winter here in Albuquerque, and the snowshoeing has been great. Once we enter March, we’ll be offering some snowshoe rental discounts if you want to grab some gear and get out while you can.  We also have a selection of Micro Spikes for the late spring hikes that take you on/ across slippery terrain.

Last fall we expanded our rentals to include Camping Gear. We have added tents, sleeping bags/ pads, camp stoves, and high-end coolers. These can all be rented a la cart or as a Car Camping kit (sleeps 4) or a backpacking kit (sleeps 1).

We have also added more Standup Paddle Boards (SUP) and New Mexico’s only SUP Yoga Dock for our highly popular SUP Yoga classes.

Tours:

Snowshoe Tours will run through March or as long as snow permits.

Our SUP Tours will kick off this spring once again and will run through October. These river tours are a great way to beat the heat of the summer, while enjoying the Bosque from the water.

Adventure Brewery Tours will be offered this summer with limited capacity and limited dates. If you have been putting it off, this summer is the time to experience Albuquerque’s emerging brewing scene!

Events:

Our Annual Ice Break paddle on the Rio Grande will be held March 17, at 10:00 am. We look forward to hanging out and hitting the river with you!

This spring we will be running our popular Fitness Series again and it will be broken into 2 sessions, Spring and Summer. They will be 6 session in length and held mid-week, this is a great way to add a paddling component to your fitness regime or just pick up a new hobby. We will offer a wide variety of instruction including, basic paddling, mobility, and building endurance (measurable, observable, and repeatable).

We will also be helping Glorieta Camps with their Memorial Weekend Festival. We will have low priced sup rentals, and they will be offering a SUP Yoga Class. We will be there on Friday and Saturday hanging out in and on the water.

Starting in June we will have our first of three Sunset and Full Moon Trips on the Rio Grande. The magic of the Bosque as the sunsets and the moon rises is not to be missed.  The wildlife comes out of the woodwork once the sun goes down.  These generally take about 3 hours, and we will gather at Boxing Bear Brewery to celebrate the evening with libations!

Lastly, we will be hanging out at surf wave in Corrales again if you are looking to get out and have fun on the SUP or kayak. Keep an eye on our Facebook page or the Meet Up group to see when these sessions are going to be held. They are a lot of fun and you get a great work out too!

MST Adventures would also like to say THANK YOU for supporting our business. We enjoy hearing about your trips and outdoor experiences. We look forward to our next adventure with you! If you have the time we would love to hear how we can improve at cspoores@mstadventures.com or if you would like, we would love a review on Google or TripAdvisor, as it helps others as they plan their next outdoor adventure.

-Cheers!
